Spray foam insulation is professionally installed at the same point in the construction cycle as other types of insulation.  Acting as a complete thermal break, air and vapour barrier, it also adds 100% structural integrity to the home.  With closed cell spray foam there is no need for a plastic vapour barrier to be installed.  The foam is the vapour barrier.

If you are renovating, consider spray foam to make your home more comfortable and efficient.  Spray foam is non-porous, making it a great option for basement foundation walls.  Many older homes were built with rough lumber 2x4 stud walls.  If this is the case in your renovation, spray foam is a great option.  Pink batt insulation can simply not get the R-value required by todays building code in a 2x4 wall.  Spray foam can!  This means you can save time and money by not having to build out all the walls to 2x6 just so the pink batt can achieve the R-value.  The foam will be your vapour barrier and also add structural integrity to the wall making it much stronger than a 2x6 wall with batt insulation.
